Unlucky lads.

Today Beverley played against East Hull, the recent injury jinx which has robbed us of numerous players struck again this week as Ash (H) was injured in an accident involving a badminton raquet at school so joined the list of players unable to play, we were therefore only able to raise 12 players for this game which always promised to be a tough fixture against the team that we arguably put up our best performance of the season against a few weeks ago.
We were beaten 12-4 but under the circumstances this looks like a very good performance and im sure without the growing band of wounded we might well have recorded a double over a strong East Hull outfit.
with no substitutes to call upon we can only praise all the players for keeping going until the last and surely this shows some promise for the future.

summer rugby my a**e

Super league is now 6 weeks into the season, and the game is now supposed to be a summer game.
Beverley went to Norland today to play the game which has been postponed twice previously because of an unfit pitch.
you are in for a treat here, I'm going to commentate on the game in its entirety.
Norland kick off and Beverley advance down the pitch before a nice passing move sends Calvin in for a nice try just to the left of the sticks.
Ash (H) was given the kicking duties because of the injury to Kieran (B), Ellis had to eventually hold the ball for him so he could kick it because of the howling wind, the kick was unsuccessful.
Norland tried to restart but the weather was that bad with hailstone sweeping into their faces that the referee took the players off for a few minutes to allow the conditions to improve.
The game restarted after about 10 minutes, Norland kicked off and Beverley took the ball forward, With a couple more minutes on the clock, the weather was that bad that the referee took the players off again and the game was abandoned.
Maybe we just are not destined to play Norland this season.
Just one thing to mention.................there is no training on tuesday and the weekend session is at longcroft on SATURDAY this week.

Next match

Norland (again) Lets hope it gets going this time! 10:15 kick off at sydney smith school.
Come on lads lets make it two wins from two.
We have a few injuries now and are beginning to struggle a little, we have liam still out with his arm injury although the pot is now off, he just needs to build the strength back up and has been told he still has to rest it for a further 5 to 6 weeks, chris has injured his neck in an accident at school and is out for the season, james has been told to not do anything for another month at least as his knee is very badly bruised and the tendon damaged. and on tuesday in a freak accident at the end of training kieran broke his ankle so that is his season finished. Good luck to all the long term injured and lets hope the lads left can pull together and see off the teams put in front of us and end the season with a playoff trophy.

Back to winning ways.

Beverley put up a fairly good performance against a heavier and bigger side in isberg this morning, they raced into a 14-0 lead before isberg came back into the game a little.
There were some good performances from people who had to be moved into positions they dont usually play.
Special praise needs to be given to the two wingers, Harry and Ben, who both ran well and always looked a threat with the ball.
Lewis played well at scrum half, and Ash (H) did well at loose forward, scoring the first try after spotting a gap well.
Good runs were put in by the forwards and as usual Calvin was strong in defence, All in all a decent performance but there is still room for improvement, as we were still trying to play one man rugby near the oppositions line instead of spreading the ball, when we did it towards the end we got another good try.
Final score was Ideal isberg 10 Beverley Braves 26

Another long term injury.

Another player has just played his last game for the season, James came off injured today after his knee collapsed under him early on in the game.
He has been to casualty tonight and has been told he has damaged the main ligament which joins his knee cap to his tibia, the ligament has been ripped off and has chipped away a piece of bone with it, Therefore he wont play for some time.

They might have lost, but........................

What a brilliant performance from Beverley, The game was there for the taking and it was only the first 10 minutes which lost them this one.
I think the lads started off a little scared from the previous game but then they srated to perform. And from a deficit of 14-0 the gradually began to boss the game in all departments.
There were strong games from many players and all deserve praise, I dont think any of the players shirked any responsibility today and in the end they had Myton rattled.
There wasnt any of the antics from the last game and this made for a very good hard game, there wasnt one bad tackle or bad incident in the game and it made for a super spectacle.
The final score was Myton 20 Beverley 14. And this against the team that are nailed on to finish runners up in the league to the mighty West Hull.

Come on lads lets do a bit of work

Right boys this season has nearly finished and you will be having a little bit of a rest through the summer, but like all rugby clubs we must think about next year, Im sure all of you must have mates!! Well, why not see if any of them want to come down and play for us? We have got a good little group of players down at this team, But the word there was LITTLE, The likes of West Hull, Myton etc etc Have a good squad of players to pick from which is why they are at the top of the league.
What we really need is a little bit of size and aggression in the forwards, This doesnt mean that the players we have got now arent any good, It means that we need a few more to improve the squad we have, we lost liam earlier and we now only have 1 recognised hooker, what happens if he gets injured? so come on lads lets all get to work and drag some mates down. If any lads at school already play for a team but arent happy drag them along here, tell them they will enjoy it here, and if they train well they will get a game, this might even improve your game, the more competition there is the better you will train and play.
Its your team boys and im sure you would all love to give West Hull and Myton a good run for their money
